Sustainable, Local,  Zero-Waste Catering

Sweet Sassafras Zero Waste Catering started as a cosy little cafe in North Hobart, founded by owners Isis and Maya at the beginning 2018. Sadly, the cafe closed in December 2019, however their Zero Waste Catering business was taken over by cook and friend Madeleine, continuing to deliver tasty, seasonal food to gatherings all across Southern Tasmania.

Sweet Sassafras Zero Waste Catering supplies simple, fresh food using the best Tasmanian grown produce we can get our hands on. We work with a handful of local small producers and change our menu with the seasons and availability. This keeps things interesting for us and our customers, and makes sure our food miles stay as low as possible. 

We offer a zero-waste catering service, with options for breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

We source locally and organic whenever we can. We aim to be zero-waste so we provide everything beautifully presented on returnable platters. We never use cling-wrap, but use reusable beeswax wraps instead.


As our kitchen is based in beautiful Dodges Ferry, we deliver anywhere from Triabunna to Huonville. Delivery cost is included as part of the overall cost of catering.
